Thank you for your excellent review Daniel! It's nice to hear from more casual Tolkien fans...I've been involved with JRR Tolkien and his mythology for so long, that it is sometimes difficult for me to view these books (and their complications) as a more casual reader might.
And I entirely agree with you...a dark and powerful novel.
